Despite my warning, Kennedy doesn't move, and I don't wait any longer. I get out of the shower, pick her up, and take her under the water with me.
"I don't have any other clothes."
"If that's the only problem, I'll buy you an entire shopping mall, love."
I hold her by the neck and kiss her mouth with the hunger heightened by what happened today, because my head hasn't stopped for a second thinking that if George, the driver, hadn't been able to control the car, one or both of us could have been killed.
I start to unbutton her blouse, and she doesn't tell me to stop.
"One time," she says.
"What?"
"You told me that we should make love one more time, and that if this madness between us is just desire—”
I don't let her finish the sentence. I kiss her, my tongue taking every sweet, warm corner of her, until I leave her so weak that she needs to support herself on my forearms to keep from falling.
"Enough talking. We've done that for too long. There's still a lot to be said, but now I want you. We both missed details of what happened the one time I had you. Our memories are fuzzy and only pieced together through that video we watched, but tomorrow, when the day dawns, we will both know who we belong to, Kennedy. I will never let you forget this again.”
"How about you?"
